The Day After the Holiday : Recovery Tips

Maybe you stayed up too late; perhaps you imbibed a little too much, too much sugar, too much salt. The point is, your "I woke up like this" is less than 100%.

The first thing you are going to notice and want to address is your poor puffy eyes! We have three options you can choose from, or you can do all three, depending on the severity of your condition:

  1. Green tea bags. Use brewed tea bags that have cooled, place them on your eyelids for a short time. Green tee has tannins and caffeine that will tighten your skin and reduce puffiness.

  2. Cucumber slices. The coolness of the cucumbers acts as a vasoconstrictor - a fancy way of saying they slow blood flow -- and can help combat dark circles.

  3. The beauty queen trick we can never recommend enough: use hemorrhoid cream. It will restrict the blood vessels, reduce redness, and has anti-inflammatory properties to reduce puffiness.

Most of your skin's lamentations can be resolved with hydration. So it goes without saying that you need to be in taking a lot of fluids.

While still on your way to recovery, we have a few makeup tips to help you look your best. Wearing a foundation can emphasize how dull and dry your skin still is. Instead, work strategically placed concealer into trouble areas. Extra points if you have a color-correcting concealer. Remember to apply thinly and blend thoroughly.

yellow shades -- dark eye circles

greens -- reduce redness

lilacs -- correct yellow skin tone.

Add some rosy tones to the apples of your cheeks to look more vibrant and rested.

To brighten up dull eyes start with your preferred eye whitening drops. Then use soft, creamy, and natural shadows complemented with a lash thickening mascara -- like our Siren-- to create that fresh and polished look you want.
