Connecting To Sell on Social Media

As an influencer, one thing you want to do is make sales. Whether you’re making sales for your own business or for other brands you represent; you want people to want the product that you’re selling, and you want them to buy it from you.

Although this seems like an easy enough goal, the execution can be tricky. Trying too hard pushes people away! On the other hand, if you cannot show what you have to sell, your audience will miss out on your offerings completely. Which is why we find branding, a balance between making your offerings available to your audience, and creating trust, providing value, and being authentic.

How do you do this? Focus on everything but sales. In a world of instant gratification this may seem counterintuitive -- hear us out! Put your shop link in your bio, have some story highlights that explain your product or your team. And just leave them. The following two tips will increase your growth and success:

TIP #1Instead of pumping outposts about your products, think about what you can give your audience. Do you have an amazing aesthetic and a flair for storytelling? Are you a makeup artist? Do you have health and fitness tips you live and want to share? Are you an avid watcher and have ready opinions about reality tv shows? Look to your interests, strengths, and passions when thinking of what you have to offer. Look to established influencers and brands who share those areas of expertise. You can see what kind of content they are creating that is getting their audiences involved. Use others as inspiration to create content that is proven to be effective.

TIP #2 - "If your audience won't come to you, come to your audience.” If you are looking to build your audience, create a community, or simply convert your audience into sales -  you must be proactive. Follow the people who have followed you. Comment on their posts and engage with them. This goes for audience building as well, you do not need to wait for others to engage. Seek out your ideal clients, and start talking to them on their pages, posts, and stories. Do not try to sell, but look to make genuine connections, and start a conversation. If you interest someone, they will visit your page and if your page is full of value then they will follow and be more apt to convert from follower to customer.

No one likes being pressured to buy. Keeping these tips in mind will help you increase your audience and create a loyal customer base.
